BabelCamp 2015 in Brno: a moravian adventure
Beginning of September Christoph Raethke took a couple of Berlin adventurers to Brno, in the Czech Republic, to attend the BabelCamp, a Social Media conference in the Moravia region. Adam Zbiejczuk from ROI Hunter gave us the opportunity to talk Berlin, Startups and Social Media to an audience eager to learn about what's going on in the German capital. And there was plenty to talk about!
So on Friday 4th of September Christoph from GTEC, Julienne Becker from Coconat and former Social Media Week Director, Mira Jago from PHNTM BEACH and I took the long road, even if it was by plane and train, on Friday to spend Saturday in BabelCamp and Sunday discovering Brno.
Saturday morning what greeted us first thing was the most amazing buffet I've ever seen in any gathering, barcamp or conference I attended. JUST WOW.
I am not photographer but believe me, this is not catering, this is CATERING! #babelcamp pic.twitter.com/r4lxobLHeD

Having filled our bellies with a great breakfast - brunch, we explored both the main venue, Fléda, usually a club, and COWO, the centrally located co-working space sponsoring the event. The talks were held in the main stage at Fléda, while the workshops were taking place in COWO. While I spoke about the best tools as Community and Social Media Manager to know, Christoph gave the opportunity to everyone to pitch their idea and get it punched by him in a cruel to be kind manner, and Julianne hosted a workshop on how to build communities.
I have to say the topic of tools to make your impossible workload happen was quite popular, as the session of Ian Anderson Gray proved it!

The highlight of the day came in the afternoon though, when we 3 took the main stage of Fléda to showcase what's going on in Berlin in terms of Startups and Social Media. Our new friend Ian was kind enough to live tweet it!

After the talk, several BabelCamp attendees reached to us for advice on how to make it in Berlin and they raved about their past experiences in the city. I guess everyone loves Berlin? The confirmation came late at night, in the closing party. I say, mission accomplished!

After sipping some delicious Jack Daniel's Honey in plastic whiskey glasses (yes, they exist!), we call it a night after an exciting day. Sunday was exploration time and of course I took the opportunity to do some tourism, jogging style. Brno is so charming!

On a beautiful twist of things, I'm writing these lines from the coworking space of Coconat, with Julianne as a great host. It will close next weekend with a big party blast, and re-open in Spring 2016. If I were you, I would start looking for a weekend to visit this amazing space!
Here is all you need to know about it:
